XENPAK is a Package with Transmitter
XENPAK Transceiver was the first standard for transceivers to operate at 10GbE. Due to its large form factor, XENPAK has been replaced by more compact devices. X2 and XPAK were later introduced in a smaller form factor.
2X10 GPON ONU Bi-Directional SFF Transceiver
Although they were smaller than XENPAK Transceiver, X2 and XPAK were not quite as successful as the former. XFP came after X2 and XPAK and it also had smaller form factor compared to XENPAK. Unlike X2 and XPAK, XFP was more widely accepted as a replacement for XENPAK Transceiver. The most recent and most popular standard now is the enhanced small form-factor pluggable (SFP+).
