What is Optical Fiber Composite Low-Voltage Cable?
Optical fiber composite low-voltage cable (OPLC) is a cable stranded together with insulated wire and fiber optic unit which have both functions of power transmission and optical communication. The cable is used for power engineering less than 1KV.
Power Fiber to the home (PFTTH) is concept of laying OPLC (low-fiber composite cable) with low-voltage power line in the low-voltage communication access network, resulting intelligent meter in home. And combine with the passive optical network technology. It can make power information collection, Smart power two-way interaction, multi-network integration and etc.
After OPGW and OPPC, OPLC is another composite fiber optic cable product released by State Grid Corporation of China. OPLC is stranded with optic fiber, insulated power wire and signal wire. It can achieve broadband access, equipment power requirement, and emergency signal transmission. By EPON technology, PFTTH enables transmission of data, voice and video services, and also power meter data.
Optical fiber composite low-voltage cable Structure
Customers can build an interactive intelligent family with smart grid by calling internet phone, logging internet, picking video on-demand and watching HD TV.
Low-fiber composite cable (OPLC) is another new revolution of fiber to the home; due to a larger range of participants it has paid more attention. Power grid, telecom, cable manufacturers, communication equipment manufacturers will all be involved. OPLC has features of high-reliable data transmission, low price, convenient connection, which resulting the advantages of small diameter and light; low cost; great bending and resistant to side pressure; achieving communication on power grid. OPLC will play a great role on data transmission of intelligent home, office automation, digital substation and internet industrial control.
