Applications
An Ethernet to Fiber Media Converter can also be used where there is high level of electromagnetic interference or EMI which is a common phenomenon found in industrial plants. This interference can cause corruption of data over copper-based ethernet links. Data transmitted over fiber optic cable however is completely immune to this type of noise. An Ethernet to Fiber Optic Converter therefore enables you to inter-connect your copper-ethernet devices over fiber ensuring optimal data transmission across the plant floor.

Using Attention of Fiber Media Converter
Fiber media converter has a variety of different classification, but note that most of the actual use of class distinction according to different fiber optic connectors, including SC connector media converter and FC / ST media converter.
SFP Slot Fiber Media Converter and SFP Transceiver
Fiber media converter to connect the different devices must use different ports.
1. The fiber converter to 100BASE-TX equipment (switches, hubs) connection:
Verify that the length of twisted pair up to over 100 m; RJ-45 port to connect one end of the twisted pair to fiber converter (Uplink port), the other end of the set (switches, hubs) 100BASE-TX RJ-45 port (port).
2. The fiber converter to 100BASE-TX device (NIC) connections:
Verify that the length of twisted pair up to over 100 m; RJ-45 port to connect one end of the twisted pair to Fiber media converters (100BASE-TX port), the other end of the RJ-45 port, network card.
3. Fiber converter to 100BASE-FX connection:
Verify that the fiber length does not exceed the range of equipment to provide distance; SC / ST connector, one end of the fiber with fiber media converters SC / FC / ST connector on one end to connect the 100BASE-FX device.
Also need to add is that many users in the use of fiber media converters that: as long as the length of the fiber is in the single-mode fiber or multimode fiber can support a maximum distance can be used normally. In fact, this is a wrong perception, this understanding is correct only when connected devices are full-duplex device, when there are half-duplex device, the optical fiber transmission distance there are certain restrictions.
