Applications
An Ethernet to Fiber Media Converter can also be used where there is high level of electromagnetic interference or EMI which is a common phenomenon found in industrial plants. This interference can cause corruption of data over copper-based ethernet links. Data transmitted over fiber optic cable however is completely immune to this type of noise. An Ethernet to Fiber Optic Converter therefore enables you to inter-connect your copper-ethernet devices over fiber ensuring optimal data transmission across the plant floor.

Applications of Ethernet Fiber Media Converter
Fiber media converters for several POF/HCS fiber technologies, glass MM and glass SM are for sale to interference-free connection and coverage of long distances. Depending on the application along with the required range, distances of 50m, 300m, 10km or 40km could be covered.
Media converters also can hook up to various optical fiber cables such as multimode, single mode or single strand fiber cable. The fiber media converter can extend around 80 miles by using a single-mode fiber, a lot greater distance than the older copper-based systems. Options are available for many distances to suit the needs of a selected Ethernet to fiber application.
And, fiber interface connectors may be dual ST, dual SC, dual LC or single SC type. Fiber media converters can connect different LAN media, modifying duplex and speed settings. When expanding the reach from the LAN to span multiple locations, fiber transceivers are useful in connecting multiple LANs in order to create one large campus area network that spans over the wide geographic area.
In the matter of larger LANs, fiber media converters are of help in connecting separate networks which cover a sizable area. It will make separate LANs operate as you large LAN. It may also modify speed and duplex settings.
Fiber Media Converters Connect Ethernet Switches
For instance, a fiber converter containing switching capability can connect a network segment which uses half duplex, something that enables two-way communication only one way during a period, with a faster, full-duplex system.
A full-duplex system enables simultaneous two-way traffic. The half-duplex can be quite a legacy 10baseT system, as well as the newer system could be 100baseT, as well as the converter would allow them to communicate on the fiber connection.
Simply speaking, the application range of fiber media converters includes:
1. Interconnection between switches
2. Interconnection between switch and computer
3. Interconnection between computers
4. Transmission relay
5. Conversion between single mode and multi-mode
6. WDM transmission
