QSFP+ A0C Comes From Eight-Month

 

The 40G QSFP+ A0C is the result of an eight-month development effort, with design of the four-channel VCSEL array and matching PIN array a major focus. High-level circuit, software, and structure design, as well as the production of passive optical devices, were among the core competencies used. 

 

QSFP (Quad SFP) connectors provide four channels of data in one pluggable interface. Each channel is capable of transferring data at 10Gbps and supports a total of 40Gbps as specified for QSFP+.

The 4×10-Gbps QSFP+ AOC features a pair of QSFP+ optical transceivers connected with ribbon OM3 multimode fiber cable. The 40G parallel optical module leverages four 850-nm VCSELs and four PIN receivers, each operating at 10 Gbps. Such AOCs are used in supercomputer and SDR, DDR, and QDR InfiniBand applications. 

 

This 40G parallel optical transceiver platform can be expanded for greater transmission capacity, including 12×10-Gbps. TIt will apply the lessons learned to the production of 100G CFP-SR10 devices.
