How to Install an Ethernet Adapter for XP Home?
Installing a PCI Ethernet adapter network card on a Windows XP computer allows a user to have an Ethernet network interface on the back of the PC, useful for connecting to high-speed Internet and home networking devices. Accomplish this by physically installing the card into a PCI slot on the computer's motherboard, a process that takes about 20 minutes to complete.
Installation Instructions
1. Shut down the computer and unplug it. Remove the screws at the back of the case and remove the side panel.
2. Insert the Ethernet adapter into any available PCI slot on the bottom of the motherboard. Press down until it locks into place and screw it into position.

3. Replace the computer parts that were disassembled and restart the machine. Insert the driver CD that came with the Ethernet adapter into the computer's optical drive.
