Cost Effective CWDM Fiber Optic Products

The use of fiber optic cables for communication has exposed doors for multiplexing communication technologies that maximize the capabilities at minimal cost. CWDM (Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing) modulates different laser wavelengths with multiple signals. In effect, what this means is maximized using a single optical fiber to deliver and receive many signals, minimizing costs for Telco’s. Companies will only use the best optical amplifiers and demultiplexer as well as multiplexer to increase the capacity of optical fiber using CWDM technology.

Related technologies are DWDM (division multiplexing Dense Wavelength) and conventional WDM. Make use of conventional WDM transmission window with a third wavelength of 1550nm, accommodating as many as 8 channels. DWDM is identical but with denser channel. Systems could use 40 channels, each at 100 GHz spacing or 80 channels spaced 50GHz apart. A technology, Ultra Dense WDM is able to work at a distance of only 12.5GHz, allowing more channels. DWDM and WDM are expensive in contrast to CWDM.

CWDM technology, there is an increase in channel spacing. This requirement means less sophisticated and cheaper transceiver devices. Operating in the same window of 1550nm silica fibers and OH-free, maximum efficiency is achieved in channels 31, 49, 51, 53, 55, 57, 59 and 61. The channels are spaced 20nm apart.

Less precision optics minimizing cost, uncooled lasers with lower maintenance requirements therefore can be used in CWDM devices that operate in the region of 1470 , 1490 , 1510 , 1530 , 1550 , 1570, 1590 and 1660nm. 18 different channels can be used with wavelengths much as 1270 nm. Besides being cost effective, energy consumption for laser devices used in CWDM technologies are also much less. Signs CWDM can’t transmit long term, but they are ideal for applications in a range of 60 km, for example within a city, as well as networks of cable television (cable TV), allowing signals upstream and downstream.

A number of manufacturers offer all CWDM multiplexers related, demultiplexers and optical amplifiers. The network solution providers are appropriate to seek guidance for the use of CWDM, DWDM or WDM technology people. They perform all installation and commissioning of integrated devices suitable for high data transmissions high-speed error-free through fiber optic lines. Cost and gratification optimized CWDM solutions with built in expansion capabilities can be found from solutions companies’ reliable and trusted network online.
