The Most Widely Deployed Fiber Access Technology
GPON has emerged as the leading fiber access technology for delivering residential, business, and mobile backhaul applications. Sopto is the professional company to offer GPON access solutions, and today our GPON solutions are deployed by more service providers.
The key to the widespread adoption of GPON is its remarkable flexibility. GPON can deliver RF video and IPTV, TDM voice and VOIP, as well as 10/100/1000 Ethernet and TDM or PWE3 based T1s. With 2.5 Gbps downstream bandwidth and 1.2 Gbps upstream, GPON can handle today's applications and scale for the future. Calix GPON also includes a third wavelength for RF video and offers RF Return over a fourth wavelength to support RF based interactive services (utilizing the SCTE RFOG standard).
Sopto’s GPON conforms to the ITU G.984 standard. We have responded to the specific needs of our rural customers by being the first company to adopt Extended Reach GPON utilizing new amendments to the G.984 ITU standard – a solution that is especially useful for serving customers in low-density areas. Extended Reach GPON saves tens of thousands of dollars in outside plant cabinet and powering costs by extending the loop length of GPON from the traditional 20 km to 40 km.
