QSFP+ Active Copper Cable Assemblies Alternative Solutions
The cable is available in a number of standard lengths up to 300 meters and custom lengths up to 4,000 meters. We offer customers the flexibility of traditional optical modules by interfacing to systems via a standard CX4 to QSFP+ Active Copper Cable connector.
The cable is electrically compliant with the SFP+ interface supporting InfiniBand, Ethernet, Fibre Channel and other applications. Optical transceivers are permanently attached to the fiber, shielding the optical interface from environmental contaminants and protecting it from damage during installation.
The transmitter side accepts electrical input signals which are voltage compatible with both Low Voltage Positive Emitter Coupled Logic and Current Mode Logic levels. All input data signals are differential and are internally terminated. The receiver side recovers the parallel electrical input signals via a quad CDR into clear-edge parallel electrical output signals. QSFP+ Active Copper Cables are copper cables for data transmission that use a silicon chip (semiconductor) to boost the performance of the cable.

Without a chip, a cable is considered a ‘passive’ cable. Passive cables are liable to degrade the data they carry, due to such “channel impairments” as attenuation, crosstalk and group velocity distortion. In active cables, one or several semiconductor chips are embedded in the cable to compensate for some or all of these port density impairments. This active boosting allows cables to be more compact, thinner, and longer and transmit data faster than their passive equivalents.
We offer customers the flexibility of traditional optical modules by interfacing to systems via a standard QSFP+ Active Copper Cable, SFF-8436 connector. The cable is electrically compliant with the SFP+ interface supporting InfiniBand, Ethernet, Fibre Channel and other applications. The QSFP+ Active Copper Cable includes the Digital Diagnostic Monitoring Interface (DDMI)
