How to Manage Cables
Unsightly wire and cable is the shortcoming of any home theater or surround sound system, make the cable management priority once your system is up and running. Fortunately, there are many solutions for cable management in today's market.
With minimal effort, you can run your cable in carpet, along the wall, in the crown molding and interiors, or you can use such as to move, a pin and relationships to conceal your cable. You can also choose to use a low-key speaker wire is suitable for painting. You only need to decide which way is suitable for your work space, chances are you will be using a combination method discussed here.
There are a few simple guidelines to keep in mind as you begin your cable concealment project:
a. Don't skimp on the quantity of cable to save money. Is most likely to happen, you will need an additional cable to cover it right, pull too tight will damage the cable conductor or other elements, has a negative impact on performance.
b. Don't bend, kink or otherwise modify the shape of the cable.
c. Don't put the AV cable near the power supply; this may lead to interference. In some cases it will be almost impossible, just try our best to reduce the link between the two types of cables.
d. If you tend to change, upgrade, or move your equipment often, you should look for a solution that is reusable and that makes it easy to get cables in and out.
The various elements available for cable management include raceways, ties and tacks, as mentioned earlier. Cable Ties should be sturdy and plastic and can be found at any hardware store. Zip ties with all sorts of color and length, the price is cheap. Simply package your cable together (not too tightly) and place a tie every 6 inches or so.
Make sure all of your connections are correct before closing your zip ties; because once you lock them down they would need to be cut off to add or remove wires. A good alternative (although a bit pricier) is to use Velcro-style ties, which can be reused or adjusted as often as you need.
Tacks need to be the right size and shape for the wire you are concealing. Keep in mind that different types of cables may need different mechanism in order to avoid damaging the cable. It may help to take a sample of your cables with you when you go shopping for tacks. Be careful not to pierce the cable when hammering your tacks into place. If you are not able to use the nail-on tacks, there are products designed with adhesive backing that can stick to the wall, baseboard or furniture. Raceways are also great for cable management because they are flexible and often can be painted to match your decor.
They can be placed in a baseboard and work when you want to pick up your cable does not delete the clip, pull the carpet or modify your walls. Just make sure the runway is large enough to accommodate all of your cable no crowds together is too tightly. If you are still in the planning phase, your system, you can buy furniture or equipment rack built-in cable management system. If you decide to place any wiring in the walls or ceiling, you need to make sure that you buy the fiber is rated type of use. With a little planning and ingenuity, cable management for your system can be less challenging than you might think
