With the lowest port cost of any rival 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10-GbE) copper cable technology, CX4 cables have quickly become the interface of choice for switches, routers, and high performance computer clusters.
CX4 Infiniband cables follow the IEEE 802.3ak 10Gb Ethernet standard. They provide superior signal fidelity over long distances and are highly flexible. Each cable uses the Infiniband 4X connector to maximize signal strength and can support data transfers of up to 10 Gigabits per second.
It gets its name because it is intended to run over CX4, or 4 pairs of twinaxial copper wiring. It has a nominal data rate of 10Gbit/sec, 10 times as fast as gigabit Ethernet. It is also referred to as 802.3ak.
CX4 cables are available is various lengths ranging from 5 to 15 meters. CX4 cables are assembled with premium Madison 8 pair, and 100 ohm.
For the CX4 cable standard connector type is the ejector style latch used for Infiniband SFF-8470, but configurations with thumbscrews or side squeeze latches are also available.
10GBase Ethernet is the most recent and fastest of the Ethernet standards. It’s intended to connect servers or switches over short distances, up to 50 feet, using coaxial cable. For more info, please browse our website.
