The working principle for 3G SFP optical transceivers
The brief introduction of the working principle for 3G SFP optical transceivers. The design of 3G SFP optical transceiver should meet the requirement of SFP MSA (Multi-Source Agreement) and the SFF-8472 protocol. The 3G SFP module is composed of TOSA and LD drive circuit. The TOSA includes the laser LD and the photodiode PD. And the function of the TOSA is to convert the optical information into the electrical signal.
The LD drive circuit is used to drive and control the LD. First, the electrical signal which is input in the fiber optic module is received by the LD drive circuit and modulated to the LD drive current. And then the drive laser emits laser light with a data modulated signal.
The LD drive circuit has the automatic power control (APC) function to achieve the closed-loop control by checking the photocurrent which is produced by the backlight diode. And the LD drive circuit dynamically adjusts the LD drive current size through the APC loop.
