What is the difference of 1000Base’s 5 transmission media?
There are 5 transmission media of 1000base of fiber optical modules. What's the difference and where can be used for?
1000Base-LX can be used for both single mode fiber and multi-mode fiber. In transmitting single mode fiber, its transmission distance can reach 10km, while in multi-mode fiber, its transmission distance can be 550m.
1000Base-SX When used for the multi-mode fiber of 62.5um, its transmission distance can be 300m, while used for the multi-mode fiber of 50um, its transmission distance can be 550m.
1000Base-CX can be used to connect short-distance equipment to operate in 1000M-Ethernet of coaxial cables. And it uses high-rate twisted pair copper cables with its transmission distance being 25m.
1000Base-T is applied in Cat4e copper cable and its transmission distance can reach 100m.
1000Base-ZX According to the standard of Ethernet communication, when operated in common single mode optical fiber link, its distance should be 80km, and uses long wavelength 1550nm.
