40km 1310nm/1550nm SFP transceiver, difference, reason, application
Sometimes, we may select the SFP transceivers, whose parameters are same basically, in a dilemma. For example, we may kink the difference between 40km 1310nm H3C compatible SFP transceiver and 40km 1550nm H3C compatible transceiver.
In this case, the main difference is on the wavelength. When the light is transmitted in the fiber at different wavelengths, the light will be attenuated. And when we use OTDR or other fiber optical tools to test these wavelengths, we will find the attenuators.
My experience tells us, no matter the 1310nm wavelength or the 1550nm wavelength, they both support 40km transmission distance. But, if we need to transmit more than 40km distance, I suggest the 1550nm wavelength.
