What’s the difference between SONET and SDH?
SONET is the standard of connecting optical transmission system, its transmission data rate is based on 51.84Mb/s.
SDH, which is defined on the basis of ITU-T, is the information structure which supplies the corresponding level for transmission of digital signals of different speed, including multiplexing mapping and technical system that is composed of synchronization method.
The mainly difference between SONET and SDH
SONET is commonly used in North America and Japan while SDH is usually used in China and Europe.
SONET’s basic data rate is 51.84Mb/s while SDH’s lowest data rate is 155M.
