What is the difference between OM2 and OM3?


Multimode fibers are identified by the OM (“optical mode”) designation as outlined in the ISO/IEC 11801 standard.

 

OM2 refers to 50 micrometers multi-mode fiber, it can support at most 500m Gigabit Network.

 

OM3 refers to 50 micrometers 10G fiber optic cable, the distance is 300m.
