Micro-cable is the small diameter stranded loose tube cable for fast installation in micro-duct systems. Micro-cable is also named as small diameter blown cable. Micro-cable uses an advanced fiber optic cable technology that allows maximum utilization of existing or future conduit systems with minimal initial investment.
Using micro-duct technology, Micro-cable is jetted through a network of micro-ducts. Changing or adding to the existing network is as simple as jetting new fiber optic cables through existing micro-ducts that are part of the exiting conduit system. This reduces capital costs and allows user to build a network to the size that customer need, while providing the ability of expanding capacity in the future.
Characteristics
SOPTO offers a range of from low to high fiber count cables for installation by blowing into small diameter micro-ducts and sub-ducts.
This range of designs provides: High capacity-up to 144 fibers High fiber density-12 fibers in Φ1.7mm tube Rapid blown installation small/light weight Incremental deployment.
For applications requiring fibers from 4 to 144, the blown cable concept provides a fast and efficient means of building a network. The cable range uses very small loose tubes containing 12 fibers to create a range of designs especially developed for blown installation.
Most cable can be blown, but some can be blown significantly further and faster than others. Many aspects of cable design are significant for a cable on maximizing its blowing efficiency. Size, strength, weight, stiffness, sheath material etc. will all affect the length and speed of blown installation.
SOPTO's series of blown cables have been developed over a number of years using our own test track, our customer's field test facilities as well as deployment in a variety of network infrastructures. SOPTO is able to supply the cable, the fiber management solutions required and the service or the resource to complete the introduction of blown cables in the existing network…
