The classification of SFP optical module
According to the wavelength, there are SFP optical modules with 850nm/1310nm/1550nm/1490nm/1530nm or 1610nm. Wavelength 850nm is for SFP multi-mode, the transmission distance is below 2KM; wavelength 1310/1550nm is for single mode, the transmission distance is more than 2KM. SFP module with 1490 wavelength is single mode, generally used for long distance transmission.
Relatively 850nm/1310nm/1550nm three wavelengths than the other three kinds of cheaper price. According to the rate, SFP optical module can be divided into 155M/622M/1.25G/2.125G/4.25G/8G/10G, and among these data rate, 155M and 1.25G is used more on the market. 10G technology is gradually stable, and its' demand is gradually increasing.
The colour classification of SFP optical module: Black pull tab for multi-mode with 850nm wavelength; blue is the wavelength of 1310nm module; yellow is the wavelength of 1550nm module; purple is the wavelength of 1490nm module.
